Khichuri is one of the most favored of recent trending meals on earth. It is easy, it is fast, it tastes delicious. It’s enjoyed by millions every day. Khichuri is something which I have loved my whole life. They are fine and they look fantastic.

Khichuri is a delicious comfort dish, customary to cook during religious festivals in Bengal. Khichuri is very popular Bengali dish and it's always being a personal favorite too for me. It is so old that there are no known founders authors or prophets.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook khichuri using 15 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Khichuri:
  1. Prepare 1 cup Mung dal
  2. Take 1/2 cup Rice
  3. Make ready 1 potato,
  4. Prepare 1 carrot,
  5. Get few string beans,
  6. Make ready little cauliflower
  7. Get Little pumpkin
  8. Prepare All vegetables to be cut and washed
  9. Make ready Bay leaves, cinnamon stick -1/2"
  10. Take Cloves, cardamom
  11. Get Cumin powder, coriander powder,
  12. Get Turmeric powder, salt
  13. Take Garam masala powder
  14. Get Ghee
  15. Prepare Panch phoran (jeera, rai, methidana, kalonji, saunf)

Bengali Khichuri (Bhoger Khichuri) Moong Dal Khichdi ~ traditional and famous Durga Puja khichuri/khichdi made using roasted moong dal, rice, veggies, spices, and ghee. It melts in your mouth and is a healthy Indian comfortfood. How to make khichuri : Roast moong dal, cut cauliflower florets and slit green chillies. Make a paste of turmeric powder, cumin powder and red chilli powder.

Steps to make Khichuri:
  1. Roast mung dal till it is brown….keep aside
  2. In cooker, add ghee…add full garam masalas and panch phoran….add washed vegetables…
  3. Add dry masalas….add the roasted dal
  4. Add rice….add water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles
  5. Serve hot

Take sufficient water in a big size pot and stir fry dal and rice in it. The khichuri is made fragrant by tempering whole garam masala or spices like bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom. The moong dal is roasted first and this imparts a lovely warm aroma and taste to the khichdi. this is also a no onion no garlic recipe. The consistency of the khichdi can be adjusted to one's preference.
